W.I.S.E.
Working Out to Increase Strength & Endurance
W.I.S.E. is an exercise program designed specifically for individuals who are either currently undergoing treatment for a cancer-related illness or those who have completed their therapy. This program is open to all cancer patients/survivors, regardless of cancer type, stage, current treatment status, or time since diagnosis and treatment.
Program Mission:
To provide a supportive environment in which cancer patients and survivors in all phases of treatment and recovery work to improve their functional capacity and quality of life through physical activity and multi-disciplinary educational programs.
Program Goals:
Improve physical and psychological function within the limitations imposed by the disease or treatment via a low-cost, community-based, integrated cancer rehabilitation program.
- Improve aerobic capacity
- Improve functional strength
- Increase range of motion and flexibility
- Decrease fatigue associated with the disease and therapy
- Improve quality of life
Class Options:
You must obtain physician approval before beginning the program. Each class is one calendar month, and program registration is required each month. The W.I.S.E. program is free for Y members. If you are not a Y member, the program fee is $75 per month.
