Happy Welcoming Week at the Monroe County Y!
September 13-22, 2019

We’re excited you’re here to connect with neighbors, both U.S. and foreign-born, and celebrate what unites us all as a community. Join us all week for our Welcoming Week activities!

ALL WEEK:

  • Stop by either our Southeast or Northwest Y branch and take a peek at the Community and Family World Map! Share your heritage on the map so other members can see just how diverse our Y family is. 
  • Fill out an “I’m a Welcomer” sheet (available in our lobbies) to share why Welcoming Week is important to you. We’ll hang them in our lobby windows for all members to read.
  • Join us in our Southeast Y lobby to enjoy a featured international tea at the coffee bar.
  • Follow us on Facebook for a daily fun fact about the Y all week! Like us at Facebook.com/MonroeCountyYMCA.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14
Parent’s Night Out: Around the Globe
Drop off your child at the Northwest Y to have a great time while mom and dad enjoy some time alone. We will feature games and crafts from around the world, and we will swim! Pre-registration is required for all participants. Want to join us? Contact Kat Edmonds at (812) 961-2380 or

Ages: 2-10
Cost: $25 per child, $16 per sibling for Y members ($35 per child, $31 per sibling for non-members)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
Korean Yoga (Kuksundo) with Youshin Choi, Ph.D
Kuksundo is a traditional Korean yoga and meditation for the mind, body, and spirit. You will practice cultivating your self-awareness through stretching, breathing, and mediation. Enhance your happiness and reduce your stress while improving your spiritual and body health with Kuksundo!
Location: Southeast Y Yoga Studio at
4:30-5:30 pm

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
Zumba Gold with Kim Denny
Zumba Gold is an international music and dance-based program for individuals for whom traditional Zumba is not a good fit. Designed for cognitive sharpness, this class provides a fun approach to cardio exercise without major impact on the body.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Zumba with Nancy Parker
Join us for a dance party! Zumba mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. A special variety mix of world music and moves will be featured in this class.
