When Renee and Greg moved to Bloomington five years ago so that Greg could pursue his Ph. D, the family never imagined that their three children would be playing soccer, attending preschool programs and making new friends at the YMCA. Because of Greg’s educational commitments, the family’s finances were tight. Renee applied for a Partner with Youth scholarship so that her children, Julia, Tyler, and Ethan, could participate in Y programs.

Now, 4 ½ year old Ethan participates in the Super Skilled Kids Preschool class, where he makes new friends, gains independence and learns important skills that prepare him for kindergarten next year. One day in class, Ethan showed us his cubby where he keeps his coat and backpack during the day.  “This is my own space at the YMCA,” Ethan said, proud to have a place to belong.  

Renee explains how much of a blessing the scholarships have been, “It lets them do everything they normally would have done if we weren’t finishing our education. The scholarships make it possible.” 

A Letter From Cindy ....

"Hi Sara-

Back in January - you offered my family some financial assistance with our membership which would last through April.

First of all - I can't tell you how much that meant to me and my family. We have never had to ask for assistance of any kind - and when we found ourselves down one income, we really had nothing but bad news after bad news -- so when you made that offer, I couldn't believe someone actually wanted to help!

Luckily - I have recently found a job (and not a minute too late!), and we want to assume our membership payments in May - We found the YMCA a comfort and during a rough time - it really did make a difference to be able to come with our kids

So - I'm not sure what you need to do to put us back on the auto withdrawal, but if you can start us back up in May - we're ready!
