| Adapted Programs Questions? Contact Kevin Thompson at 332-5555, ext 253. The YMCA offers several programs for adults and children with special needs. All of our Adapted Programs have a goal to help the individual transition to a larger integrated community. Our goal is to include everyone with a special need, providing them with a rewarding experience. Participation in non-adapted programs is encouraged by the Y for people with special needs with/without the assistance of caregivers. The YMCA will continuously re-evaluate its programs and is open to new ideas and suggestions to ensure successful experiences for all. |

YMCA CAMPABILITIES A transition camp for kids who need extra support. Campabilities is a camp designed for the child with special needs who would not otherwise be able to attend a summer camp without support. It is the hope of the YMCA staff that Campabilities could be used as a stepping stone for the child with unique abilities to be able to transition into a regular YMCA camp in the future. The camper’s unique capabilities and challenges will be served in a small camp group (12 children) with a 1:4 ratio of adult to camper support. Campabilities will take place in a safe environment with staff trained to teach special needs children. Campers will enjoy traditional camp fun with different theme activities each week. Camp songs, stories, crafts, games, and swimming will all be included! Campers will enjoy full inclusion activities with other YMCA camp groups throughout the session. Pairing of peer campers will enable socialization among the groups. (Ages 4-9 & 10-15) Meet at camp barn.
