The YMCA isn’t just a building.  It’s the people who come together each day to support each  other, to learn and to share.  When you give to the Y, you are funding life-changing programs that help thousands of children, adults and families in Monroe County and surrounding areas to learn, grow and thrive.  

The Strong Past Bright Future Campaign is well underway because of Cook Companies matching gift and several contributions from community leaders.  The time line and target date for the building of this facility and renovation plans depend on the support from the YMCA members and the larger community for the projects.

German American Pledges $50,000 for YMCA Capital Campaign

The outlook for the new year became a little brighter with a $50,000 gift made by German American to the Monroe County YMCA.

The German American five year pledge contribution will help fund the construction of a new Y facility located in a convenient location on the rapid growing Northwest side of Bloomington. It will also be matched by Cook Companies, dollar for dollar, as a part of the $5 Million Cook Companies Challenge Gift.

NORTHWEST YMCA

 

YMCA plans include building a facility on Innovation Court to the north of Park 48 corporate offices.  The rapid growth of the northwest side of Bloomington and Ellettsville has increased the need for a full-service, family-oriented YMCA.

The potential facility plans include:

  • A licensed full –day / drop-off childcare facility with room for expansion to serve 300 children

  • A health and wellness center

  • A warm-water multi-purpose swimming pool

  • A gymnasium

  • 120 acres for outdoor recreation, including walking and biking trails, day camp, sports, and more!

 

The YMCA Board of Directors is researching several options for membership before the new facility opens.  Those options include separate memberships at each facility and / or the opportunity for a joint membership.

 

MONROE COUNTY YMCA RENOVATION & EXPANSION

 

Growth and demand of life-changing services has compelled us to explore many options.  After listening to multiple options, and thoughtful consideration, the Board of Directors developed a short term and long term strategy for the Monroe County YMCA.


We have prioritized projects based on facility improvement needs that best serve our community and those that align with available funds and projected fundraising support.
